After 9 years of graduate school, I finally graduated.  I thought it would be no big deal...but it was.  It was especially wonderful to have my entire family around me.  My sisters--Janet, Julie and Jenny--came out for the weekend.  My dad came out for 10 days.

Now what?  There is a post-Ph.D. blues, complicated by everyone asking about my next step.  At present, I am inclined to continue my research and writing.  I love to teach, but not enough to do so for a lifetime.  NEH, my employer, allows me the resources to continue my research so it doesn't make sense to leave them right now.
